We are so excited to announce that our new “Pray in the Dirt” Lenten activity guide and journal is being included in this year’s Catholic Mom Bundle for Lent. Here’s our unique link. This goes live 2/17/25, and ends 2/21/25. Grab it while you can! It’s an awesome value for our stuff plus 30 other contributors.

In the meantime, we’ve just got to tell you about what we are offering in the bundle and on Etsy! It’s on sale now until the Catholic Mom Bundle goes live. We’ve made a separate Etsy listing for parishes as well, in case you want to get it for everyone.

With just one week to come up with, execute, edit, and complete our submission, our team rolled up their sleeves and dove in, praying, swapping ideas over text and in person, pausing to take care of a hospitalized friend, a kid with a concussion, necessary groceries, and various other children of ours who needed attention. (Our husbands probably got the brunt of our distracted, feverish pursuit of our final product. Sorry, husbands! We miss you, too!)

After discussing our focus in person, everything seemed to come together. As I shut my computer to leave that day, our title emerged from the parting conversation, and we knew we had something.

What is “Pray in the Dirt”?

“Pray in the Dirt” was born of a movement in our hearts toward needing to emphasize both deep, contemplative prayer, and tough, dirty jobs. We want the latter to help you be humble and still enough to enter into true, contemplative prayer. It seems strange that it’s in activity that we can be still, but isn’t it also exactly how moms and kids get through the day?

So read the daily readings, and dust the fan blades while you think about God’s Word. Pause and read one of our eight Anonymous Mom reflections. You can hand your kids one of the six coloring pages while you read, or keep it for yourself for later. After all, creating beauty is another doorway to contemplation. Then, grab an idea from the dirty chore list on the weekly resource pages and get to work while you Pray in the Dirt.

When the family is together, head outside, armed with our DIY Station of the Cross printable resources (or the cut file for Cricut and other die cut machines!), and transform your backyard into a Lenten prayer space with just dirt, sticks, and rocks over the entire six weeks of Lent.  A little twine and some wheat seeds will help, too. If you don’t have outdoor space, we’ve got you covered with indoor tips. It even has a map kit for planning out the space with your kids before they’re too distracted by gathering sticks.

Each week, you can look to your 30-page Pray in the Dirt Mom Journal for activity ideas to share with the kids, good books for moms, journaling/drawing space, and a quick gratitude check of the Works of Mercy offered to you.

We can’t wait for you to dig in and Pray in the Dirt with us! Send us your thoughts and pictures, and please support our efforts by buying Pray in the Dirt with the Catholic Mom Bundle or on our Etsy shop.
